When Kaleb isn’t spending long hours in Johnston Hall
working on class projects, he is highly involved with the regional and
national-award winning Broadcast Club here on campus, which he says has been,
“the best experience I’ve had here.” more
Greenblatt
has found Milwaukee to be a good school to gain experience in journalism, but
he had a tough time adjusting to the weather change.

MILWAUKEE—The
City of Milwaukee has received over $31 million in economic stimulus money and
will continue to pursue funding opportunities, announced Department of
Administration director, Sharon Robinson, at the first official Economic
Stimulus Task Force meeting held at City Hall. more

MILWAUKEE - A lecture hosted by the campus/community group Trafficking
Ends With Action (TEA), featured Cory Michael Davis discussing the
local and international fundamentals of the human trafficking business,
as well as the need to educate the public on the subject, and how
internet sites like Craigslist are facilitating the sale of young
girl's bodies.more
Fifty
students have gathered to the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Student Union
Building in the Ballroom East. Inside, a
diverse group of students and non-students chat about their day at school. Some
pull out their lap top computers and do homework. Energy drinks and soda
bottles are strewn about. Just what is going on here? Upon further inspection,
the purpose of the meeting soon became clear: these students were gathering to
package condoms for the No Condom No Way volunteer event.more
In a room of about 50 individuals, most of
whom are Caucasian, stills from African American Pornography films flash across
the screen of an HDTV located in front of the room. more
A display on a glass shelf with two layers of old
film reels, dollar bills sticking out of the reels, and old, corner-bent, black
and white photographs on either side, with the caption reading: “Silver Dollar
Saloon, Hurley, Wisconsin.” Another,
called “Case 1,” included chipped at, flat, oddly shaped pieces of tanned
leather with etched in pictures and phrases, like a picture frame and a boat
sailing out to sea with the caption: “HOMEWARD,

FPM INVESTIGATION: UWM LOOKS TO FIX BUDGET PROBLEMS BY INCREASING ONLINE CLASSES

Administrators
preparing for a $20
million budget cut at UW-Milwaukee are considering expanding the number of
courses offered online to reduce costs and generate new revenues. This could
mean students may pay more of the extra online fees to attend classes from
their home. However, university officials say they have also launched a new
campaign to bring more returning adult students to UWM by enticing them with
the flexibility offered by additional online courses.

to the point guard position on Monday when Brandon Jennings was joined
by Syracuse’s Jonny Flynn, Wake Forest’s Jeff Teague, and North
Carolina’s Ty Lawson in a highly-anticipated workout.more
Heading in to Thursday night’s NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks weren’t
sure who was still going to be available by the time they were on the

St. Francis - The Milwaukee Bucks got a first-hand look at a couple of
the top-rated point guards in this year’s NBA Draft on Tuesday morning
when UCLA’s Jrue Holiday and Virginia Commonwealth’s Eric Maynor
visited the team’s training facility for workouts alongside Marquette’s
Jerel McNeal, Maryland’s Greivis Vasquez, DePaul’s Mac Koshwal, and
Holiday’s college teammate Alfred Aboya.more
KENOSHA- On a chilly Friday afternoon at
Carthage College, supporters of the Lady Reds softball team braved the
unusually cold and windy April weather to cheer on their favorites. The bad
weather certainly did not deter Carthage freshman Brandon Jones, who comes to
as many home games as he possibly can.more
Milwaukee- Cold and windy weather conditions didn’t stop the UWM
baseball team from winning its home opener, beating the University of
Illinois at Chicago 6-3 one recent Friday at Henry Aaron Field.more

behind. But what are we willing to sacrifice to obtain this goal? Our
freedoms? Our rights? Many schools these days institute
zero-tolerance policies on drugs and weapons. Such policies have a
great goal, but the methods of enforcement may go beyond the possible
benefit it could provide.
